Consulting Software Engineer (Java)

OCLC and its member libraries worldwide have created and maintain WorldCat, the world's richest online resource for finding library materials. We are currently seeking candidates for a Software Engineer position in our Dublin, Ohio headquarters. The person in this job will perform analysis and design of software programs and systems and create, analyze, design, modify and test programs and systems. The word 'Consulting' should not be misconstrued as being a consultant or a temporary position; this is a full-time position.
Uses industry standard programming techniques to translate requirements and designs into code.Analyze and solve problems in existing systems.Design, code and test multiple modules of a system in a timely manner.Participates in unit, system and acceptance testing by designing tests, building test data, test execution and evaluation, along with recommending/making improvements/fixes to the tested system.Assists in developing and interpreting requirements
Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science related discipline required and skills usually represented by 6+ years of software development or project management experienceCoding skills in Java, J2EE, XML, JUnit, ANT, scripting (Perl, JavaScript, etc) highly desirable.Working knowledge of Linux/Unix.Understanding of Database design principlesExperience with SQL and JDBC required.A general understanding of Web Services development.Ability to develop HTML design templates for prototypes, visual interfaces and web-based applications.Strong oral, written and presentation skills.Creative and innovative thinker.Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
